Narrative:

On jun/xa/00, while working as a technical specialist at ZZZ maintenance control for air carrier on the late night shift, I received a request for and issued an MEL placard to a mechanic at XXX for the captain's audio select panel. I informed the mechanic that the captain's panel was not placardable but he could swap with the observer's position, which he did. The observer's panel is placardable. He agreed and the placard was issued as wxvx. For reasons unknown to me, I changed the MEL reference to xwxy later. The aircraft has been repaired correctly and back in service.
