Narrative:
Unfamiliar with taxiway C, between runway 27L&right, I taxied over the hold short lines to runway 26R. Was looking at aircraft on final when this happened. There are several yards of space between the hold short lines and the entrance to runway 26R. Should have kept my eyes more on the hold short lines rather than incoming aircraft. (Had been cleared across runway 26L and to hold short runway 26R -- after crossing lines, ground asked me to hold position, then asked me to 180 degree turn to be behind lines -- I complied.) also, I will add that on this day I felt unusually tired, later to realize that it was the beginning of the flu.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A PVT PLT IN A T34 TAXIES OVER THE HOLD SHORT LINE WITH AN ACFT ON FINAL FOR RWY 26R AT SDM, CA.
Narrative: UNFAMILIAR WITH TXWY C, BTWN RWY 27L&R, I TAXIED OVER THE HOLD SHORT LINES TO RWY 26R. WAS LOOKING AT ACFT ON FINAL WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THERE ARE SEVERAL YARDS OF SPACE BTWN THE HOLD SHORT LINES AND THE ENTRANCE TO RWY 26R. SHOULD HAVE KEPT MY EYES MORE ON THE HOLD SHORT LINES RATHER THAN INCOMING ACFT. (HAD BEEN CLRED ACROSS RWY 26L AND TO HOLD SHORT RWY 26R -- AFTER XING LINES, GND ASKED ME TO HOLD POS, THEN ASKED ME TO 180 DEG TURN TO BE BEHIND LINES -- I COMPLIED.) ALSO, I WILL ADD THAT ON THIS DAY I FELT UNUSUALLY TIRED, LATER TO REALIZE THAT IT WAS THE BEGINNING OF THE FLU.
