Narrative:
I am a new IFR rated pilot. I filed an IFR flight plan on a day when conditions were VMC for the experience (first time solo since rating). When contacting departure I heard them say 'cleared as filed, maintain 3000 ft, cleared for departure.' I departed runway 36 and turned to a heading of 100 degrees and climbed to 3000 ft. Approximately 7-8 mins later, departure asked me to identify. I did so and they came back and said they had told me to hold runway heading and that I flew through controled airspace. I replied that I did not hear them say that. He then cleared me to climb to 7000 ft. No further discussion took place. As a brand new IFR pilot and departing from an uncontrolled airport, the radio work was considerable. When I heard the words 'cleared as filed,' I was relieved since I would not have to be vectored around. Any further instructions were obviously lost in the moment. Most of my IFR training was from this uncontrolled airport, so I did not have much experience with departure for clearance information. Most of my training in IFR radio work dealt with approachs.

Title: NEWLY RATED IFR PLT MISINTERPS ATC CLRNC.
Narrative: I AM A NEW IFR RATED PLT. I FILED AN IFR FLT PLAN ON A DAY WHEN CONDITIONS WERE VMC FOR THE EXPERIENCE (FIRST TIME SOLO SINCE RATING). WHEN CONTACTING DEP I HEARD THEM SAY 'CLRED AS FILED, MAINTAIN 3000 FT, CLRED FOR DEP.' I DEPARTED RWY 36 AND TURNED TO A HDG OF 100 DEGS AND CLBED TO 3000 FT. APPROX 7-8 MINS LATER, DEP ASKED ME TO IDENT. I DID SO AND THEY CAME BACK AND SAID THEY HAD TOLD ME TO HOLD RWY HDG AND THAT I FLEW THROUGH CTLED AIRSPACE. I REPLIED THAT I DID NOT HEAR THEM SAY THAT. HE THEN CLRED ME TO CLB TO 7000 FT. NO FURTHER DISCUSSION TOOK PLACE. AS A BRAND NEW IFR PLT AND DEPARTING FROM AN UNCTLED ARPT, THE RADIO WORK WAS CONSIDERABLE. WHEN I HEARD THE WORDS 'CLRED AS FILED,' I WAS RELIEVED SINCE I WOULD NOT HAVE TO BE VECTORED AROUND. ANY FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS WERE OBVIOUSLY LOST IN THE MOMENT. MOST OF MY IFR TRAINING WAS FROM THIS UNCTLED ARPT, SO I DID NOT HAVE MUCH EXPERIENCE WITH DEP FOR CLRNC INFO. MOST OF MY TRAINING IN IFR RADIO WORK DEALT WITH APCHS.
