Narrative:
Departing msy, flight plan was to fly over vuz on J22 to vxv direct bkw J142 to csn arrival route. First officer flying. Over vuz, first officer mistakenly put bkw instead of vxv. Captain had gad in #1 navigation instead of vuz. Captain's course needle indicated 20 degrees off course. Made a right 30 degree turn to correct. ATC asked if we were off course to the south. We said that we showed that we were north of course. ATC gave us a turn back 30 degrees. Then shortly after, ATC said that we were back on course. Found captain had gad frequency in error and first officer had bkw frequency too soon. Navigating back on course over vuz J22 outbound, captain asked if there were any problems and ATC said that there were no problems at all. ATC just mentioned that there was another aircraft in the area. Both gad and vuz vors are next to each other and can be mistakenly used. Supplemental information from acn 480802
