Narrative:
We were cleared into position and hold for takeoff. During taxi the #2 fuel low pressure light was flickering and we decided to turn the pump off until cleared for takeoff. Being a repositioning leg the takeoff and flight were mine. There was a lot of discussion during taxi and line up concerning the fuel pump and communications with tower were asked to be repeated. In taxiing into position to hold we turned the boost pump on and the light extinguished, we agreed that we would take off. Tower then called us with departure instructions and I made the assumption as did the captain we were cleared for takeoff. At approximately 50 KTS of airspeed the tower called saying he did not clear us for takeoff but we were now cleared to go. We then continued the takeoff. We later called the tower to apologize for the misunderstanding. This situation could have been avoided by verifying takeoff clearance before beginning the takeoff roll. Just a bit more attention to procedures would have helped.

Title: TKOF ROLL BEGUN WHEN CREW MISTAKES A DEP PROC ASSIGNMENT FOR A TKOF CLRNC. CTLR NOTES ROLL AND ISSUES CLRNC TO CONTINUE.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED INTO POS AND HOLD FOR TKOF. DURING TAXI THE #2 FUEL LOW PRESSURE LIGHT WAS FLICKERING AND WE DECIDED TO TURN THE PUMP OFF UNTIL CLRED FOR TKOF. BEING A REPOSITIONING LEG THE TKOF AND FLT WERE MINE. THERE WAS A LOT OF DISCUSSION DURING TAXI AND LINE UP CONCERNING THE FUEL PUMP AND COMS WITH TWR WERE ASKED TO BE REPEATED. IN TAXIING INTO POS TO HOLD WE TURNED THE BOOST PUMP ON AND THE LIGHT EXTINGUISHED, WE AGREED THAT WE WOULD TAKE OFF. TWR THEN CALLED US WITH DEP INSTRUCTIONS AND I MADE THE ASSUMPTION AS DID THE CAPT WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF. AT APPROX 50 KTS OF AIRSPD THE TWR CALLED SAYING HE DID NOT CLR US FOR TKOF BUT WE WERE NOW CLRED TO GO. WE THEN CONTINUED THE TKOF. WE LATER CALLED THE TWR TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE MISUNDERSTANDING. THIS SIT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED BY VERIFYING TKOF CLRNC BEFORE BEGINNING THE TKOF ROLL. JUST A BIT MORE ATTN TO PROCS WOULD HAVE HELPED.
