Narrative:

Heading deviation. Tower assigned heading 070 degrees and cleared for takeoff. First officer answered as I was lining up with runway and missed the heading assignment. First officer flew runway heading until about 2000 ft. As we turned, departure asked about heading and then issued traffic new heading to avoid us. I felt we may have caused a conflict from the slow turn to assigned heading. Supplemental information from acn 482651: upon taking the runway in atl, the tower controller cleared us for takeoff and assigned us a heading of 070 degrees. As we passed through approximately 2000 ft we started the turn just as the departure controller asked us what our heading was. He assigned another aircraft a heading we think was to avoid us. The turn was late, so next time I will pay closer attention to detail to turning quicker.
