Narrative:

Flight xyz from ZZZ to syr had just pushed from gate zb. We had started the left engine. I closed the left pneumatic shutoff valve and turned on the left and right pack. The flight attendants called the cockpit. The captain answered the call and was informed we had smoke in the cabin. The captain told me to call ramp and inform them we needed an immediate return to a gate. I informed him we had smoke in the cabin and was returning to the gate. The captain continued the left turn and we returned to gate zb. We completed the parking checklist, and began deplaning passenger through the forward entry onto the jetbridge. At no time did we have an indication in the cockpit of a problem with the aircraft.
