Narrative:
We were level at 15000 ft after climb out of mdw, il. Controller requested a 020 degree heading, we were on a 340 degree heading. The first officer dialed in 020 degrees on the FMS mcu. After about 20 seconds I noticed the aircraft in a left turn, the wrong way to 020 degrees. I told the copilot to disconnect the autoplt and immediately turn right to 020 degrees. ATC controller said we were 'close' to another aircraft. Flight continued normally to msp.
