Narrative:

I flew a 1940 J5 cub cruiser from north perry airport (hwo) to fort lauderdale executive airport (fxe). The aircraft did not have a data plate installed. The flight was on aug/xa/00. When I went to FAA to get a replacement data plate for the aircraft, FAA inspector said I should not fly aircraft again because it is required to have a data plate installed. The aircraft had an annual inspection performed on apr/xa/00, arrow was on board as well as pilot license and medical. Corrective action: I now know to look for a data plate on any aircraft before I fly it.
