Narrative:
Approaching lax for runway 24L, we were kept slightly high to pass over an aircraft on a visual approach to runway 24R. When we were assured of clearance from, and visual contact with, the other aircraft, we were given a visual to runway 24L. While making sure we kept good visual separation from the other aircraft, our attention was drawn away from airspeed control and our airspeed was still fast at the 500 ft point -- although at touchdown, speed was normal. In hindsight, it would have been much more comfortable to discontinue the approach and come back for another, more stabilized approach.

Title: VISUAL APCH TO LOS ANGELES, WITH CONFLICTING TFC AN ISSUE, RESULTS IN A LESS THAN STABLE APCH.
Narrative: APCHING LAX FOR RWY 24L, WE WERE KEPT SLIGHTLY HIGH TO PASS OVER AN ACFT ON A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 24R. WHEN WE WERE ASSURED OF CLRNC FROM, AND VISUAL CONTACT WITH, THE OTHER ACFT, WE WERE GIVEN A VISUAL TO RWY 24L. WHILE MAKING SURE WE KEPT GOOD VISUAL SEPARATION FROM THE OTHER ACFT, OUR ATTN WAS DRAWN AWAY FROM AIRSPD CTL AND OUR AIRSPD WAS STILL FAST AT THE 500 FT POINT -- ALTHOUGH AT TOUCHDOWN, SPD WAS NORMAL. IN HINDSIGHT, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE TO DISCONTINUE THE APCH AND COME BACK FOR ANOTHER, MORE STABILIZED APCH.
