Narrative:
Just before landing passenger X, who was elderly, approached me in the first class galley. I asked her to return to her seat. She refused. Her niece, ms Y, tried to coax her back to her seat. Mrs X became violent and verbally abusive. Along with another flight attendant we were able to walk her back towards her seat. While the other flight attendant sat her down, I fastened her seat belt. Ms Y restrained her. She had to restrain her until we reached the gate. Mrs X yelled and fought ms Y, the entire time. Mrs X didn't seem to know where she was. She asked 'who are all these people? Why are they in my home?' on arrival passenger service and the police met the flight. Passenger X was calm throughout the flight. After the meal service she fell asleep. Upon awakening she appeared to be disoriented and this is when the event occurred. Her niece reported that she had not yet been diagnosed with alzheimer's disease. She also reported that mrs X's husband had recently died and after living in hawaii for 40 yrs, her niece was moving her to austin, tx, to live with her. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that the niece said that the woman wasn't on medication and was very nasty. She hit, kicked, and bit her niece, but doesn't think she drew blood. The woman swore worse than a sailor, was strong and was around 80 yrs old. The police did send her to a mental ward, but she did seem to respond to male authority/authorized. On the connecting flight to austin, she was calm, according to a commuting flight attendant.
