Narrative:
On takeoff and shortly thereafter, we noticed a small cessna off our left side moving toward us off our left side moving toward us left to right. Tower advised us of an aircraft on our right, but not this one on the left. It was only after liftoff we noticed the aircraft on the left. He was apparently VFR and approaching another small airport near eglin AFB. We kept our vertical speed in excess of 2000 FPM to fly over him at 700 ft.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A DC9 DEPARTING VPS, EGLIN AFB, HAS A POTENTIAL CONFLICT WITH XING TFC AT 1500 FT, A CESSNA, PROCEEDING TO DTS ARPT WHICH WAS WITHIN CLASS D AIRSPACE OF VPS.
Narrative: ON TKOF AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER, WE NOTICED A SMALL CESSNA OFF OUR L SIDE MOVING TOWARD US OFF OUR L SIDE MOVING TOWARD US L TO R. TWR ADVISED US OF AN ACFT ON OUR R, BUT NOT THIS ONE ON THE L. IT WAS ONLY AFTER LIFTOFF WE NOTICED THE ACFT ON THE L. HE WAS APPARENTLY VFR AND APCHING ANOTHER SMALL ARPT NEAR EGLIN AFB. WE KEPT OUR VERT SPD IN EXCESS OF 2000 FPM TO FLY OVER HIM AT 700 FT.
