Narrative:
Possible miscom with MMMX tower. After crossing runway 5L, taxied on runway 5R displaced threshold. Tower advised to exit that runway area, as another aircraft was on final. I believe we were given 'clear to cross runway 5L, position and hold runway 5R,' but controller said it was 'cross runway 5L, hold short runway 5R.' we exited runway and made a 180 degree turn. After the other air carrier landed, we then entered the runway for takeoff. Controller said there was no problem, when questioned about the incident. No conflict occurred.
