Narrative:
I was sent to ZZZ from XXX to evaluate/replace aircraft xyz's APU after the APU had an uncontained failure. I started disconnecting APU connections when a puncture of the APU compartment was found. We were unable to remove the APU due to the lifting brace boss broken on the APU gearbox. We started to reconnect the APU connections to release the APU on MEL. The inspector and lead mechanic went to inspect the aft pressure bulkhead for damage. I continued to reconnect the APU connections when we were told that the aft pressure bulkhead had no damage. The APU was placed on MEL and the aircraft was flown to XXX, that maintenance worked. In XXX when the APU and the APU compartment housing was removed a crack was found in the aft pressure bulkhead from debris of the APU failure.
