Narrative:
While taxiing on taxiway B in lga, I was given a clearance to taxi on 'txwys B and P hold short of runway 4/22.' a crj was west of the taxiway B/P split. Contact was made just inboard of the wingtip as I passed the crj at the taxiway B/P split. The problem was caused by ground control issuing clearance onto taxiway P while the taxiway was being encroached on by the crj. Solution: notes depicting hazards associated with splitting txwys on the airport diagrams. Ground control should make sure that txwys are clear before issuing taxi clearance.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: GND COLLISION ON LGA ARPT WHEN A B727 TAXIED BY A CL65 RJ HOLDING ON AN INTERSECTING TXWY. THE B727 #1 WING SLAT WAS DAMAGED AND THE WINGLET OF THE RJ. BOTH ACFT RETURNED TO GATE TO PUT ACFT IN MAINT.
Narrative: WHILE TAXIING ON TXWY B IN LGA, I WAS GIVEN A CLRNC TO TAXI ON 'TXWYS B AND P HOLD SHORT OF RWY 4/22.' A CRJ WAS W OF THE TXWY B/P SPLIT. CONTACT WAS MADE JUST INBOARD OF THE WINGTIP AS I PASSED THE CRJ AT THE TXWY B/P SPLIT. THE PROB WAS CAUSED BY GND CTL ISSUING CLRNC ONTO TXWY P WHILE THE TXWY WAS BEING ENCROACHED ON BY THE CRJ. SOLUTION: NOTES DEPICTING HAZARDS ASSOCIATED WITH SPLITTING TXWYS ON THE ARPT DIAGRAMS. GND CTL SHOULD MAKE SURE THAT TXWYS ARE CLR BEFORE ISSUING TAXI CLRNC.
