Narrative:
On an IFR flight from blue ash (isz), oh, to louisville international (sdf), ky, I approached to land on runway 35R using the runway 35R ILS approach. Upon landing on runway 35R, I was told to 'turn on next right, taxiway F,' which I acknowledged. I was still landing the airplane as I looked to my right, but did not see taxiway F. Instead, I saw a runway and I crossed it, thinking taxiway F was still ahead. My 'next right' was taxiway G, and my airport diagram confirmed that I had passed it (taxiway F). Ahead of the (my) airplane, about 300-500 ft ahead, a vehicle crossed the active runway 35R. At this point I was confused and asked for a progressive taxi and was instructed to turn at my next right, which I did. Factors in this incident were the instructions given to me at a time when I was not finished landing the airplane. When I received taxi instructions, I indeed looked to find taxiway F, but only saw the approaching runway. The combination of still landing the airplane and receiving rushed instructions were contributing factors. Also, I was never asked if I could 'make' taxiway F, nor was I told to hold short of a specific runway or intersection.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PVT PLT OF A C172 FAILED TO TURN OFF AFTER LNDG AT A DESIGNATED TXWY INSTRUCTED BY TWR CTLR DURING LNDG TOUCHDOWN.
Narrative: ON AN IFR FLT FROM BLUE ASH (ISZ), OH, TO LOUISVILLE INTL (SDF), KY, I APCHED TO LAND ON RWY 35R USING THE RWY 35R ILS APCH. UPON LNDG ON RWY 35R, I WAS TOLD TO 'TURN ON NEXT R, TXWY F,' WHICH I ACKNOWLEDGED. I WAS STILL LNDG THE AIRPLANE AS I LOOKED TO MY R, BUT DID NOT SEE TXWY F. INSTEAD, I SAW A RWY AND I CROSSED IT, THINKING TXWY F WAS STILL AHEAD. MY 'NEXT R' WAS TXWY G, AND MY ARPT DIAGRAM CONFIRMED THAT I HAD PASSED IT (TXWY F). AHEAD OF THE (MY) AIRPLANE, ABOUT 300-500 FT AHEAD, A VEHICLE CROSSED THE ACTIVE RWY 35R. AT THIS POINT I WAS CONFUSED AND ASKED FOR A PROGRESSIVE TAXI AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO TURN AT MY NEXT R, WHICH I DID. FACTORS IN THIS INCIDENT WERE THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN TO ME AT A TIME WHEN I WAS NOT FINISHED LNDG THE AIRPLANE. WHEN I RECEIVED TAXI INSTRUCTIONS, I INDEED LOOKED TO FIND TXWY F, BUT ONLY SAW THE APCHING RWY. THE COMBINATION OF STILL LNDG THE AIRPLANE AND RECEIVING RUSHED INSTRUCTIONS WERE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS. ALSO, I WAS NEVER ASKED IF I COULD 'MAKE' TXWY F, NOR WAS I TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF A SPECIFIC RWY OR INTXN.
