Narrative:

ATC claims that we were cleared to a taxiway, not a runway. We taxied onto a runway and were told to clear runway which we did and then we were cleared for takeoff. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: crew was flying an S76 helicopter. Reporter states that there is a problem with one particular bdr ground controller phraseology. The clearance they wre given was 'taxi onto runway 29 via taxiway east.' other ground controllers give 'taxi to runway 29 via taxiway east, hold short of runway 29.' in a discussion with the tower supervisor, he said this had happened before.
