Narrative:
On nov/xa/00 I was the captain of flight from cmh to lga in which I did a lower than standard visibility takeoff. The local ATIS was reporting 3/4 mi visibility and the required visibility is 1/4 mi. After we were given our takeoff clearance and began our takeoff roll, the tower reported the visibility as 1/8 mi. I felt that we had adequate visibility to safely continue the takeoff and that it was safer than aborting the takeoff. I believe this could have been avoided if the tower would have reported the visibility at the time they gave us the takeoff clearance or if we had requested it. I plan on requesting the visibility if it is ever in doubt and not given. I continue to be dedicated to the safety of my passenger and will always strive for continued improvement in safety.

Title: CAPT OF A CL65 TOOK OFF BELOW WX MINIMUMS DUE TO THE LATEST WX RPT GIVEN WHEN HE WAS ALREADY ON THE TKOF ROLL.
Narrative: ON NOV/XA/00 I WAS THE CAPT OF FLT FROM CMH TO LGA IN WHICH I DID A LOWER THAN STANDARD VISIBILITY TKOF. THE LCL ATIS WAS RPTING 3/4 MI VISIBILITY AND THE REQUIRED VISIBILITY IS 1/4 MI. AFTER WE WERE GIVEN OUR TKOF CLRNC AND BEGAN OUR TKOF ROLL, THE TWR RPTED THE VISIBILITY AS 1/8 MI. I FELT THAT WE HAD ADEQUATE VISIBILITY TO SAFELY CONTINUE THE TKOF AND THAT IT WAS SAFER THAN ABORTING THE TKOF. I BELIEVE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF THE TWR WOULD HAVE RPTED THE VISIBILITY AT THE TIME THEY GAVE US THE TKOF CLRNC OR IF WE HAD REQUESTED IT. I PLAN ON REQUESTING THE VISIBILITY IF IT IS EVER IN DOUBT AND NOT GIVEN. I CONTINUE TO BE DEDICATED TO THE SAFETY OF MY PAX AND WILL ALWAYS STRIVE FOR CONTINUED IMPROVEMENT IN SAFETY.
