Narrative:
I had received a clearance to FL310. I thought I dialed FL310 into altitude alerter. I was doing paperwork when ATC called and asked what altitude we were going to. PF (other pilot) said FL330, and I couldn't believe it, but FL330 was in the altitude alerter. I don't know if I mis-dialed FL330 versus FL310, or if PF put FL330 in.

Title: ASSIGNED A HIGHER ALT, FLC SET IN WRONG LEVELOFF ALT, CAUSING AN ALT EXCURSION.
Narrative: I HAD RECEIVED A CLRNC TO FL310. I THOUGHT I DIALED FL310 INTO ALT ALERTER. I WAS DOING PAPERWORK WHEN ATC CALLED AND ASKED WHAT ALT WE WERE GOING TO. PF (OTHER PLT) SAID FL330, AND I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT, BUT FL330 WAS IN THE ALT ALERTER. I DON'T KNOW IF I MIS-DIALED FL330 VERSUS FL310, OR IF PF PUT FL330 IN.
