Narrative:
While passing through class D airspace surrounding daa airport from west to east at approximately 2000 ft MSL, I may not have descended promptly enough to get below the 1500 ft MSL ceiling of the adjoining class B airspace. My attention was diverted partially due to communications problems with the daa controller. He claimed our radio was defective although we had no problems with controllers prior to or after flying through daa airspace.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PVT PLT OF A C172 FAILED TO DSND IN SUFFICIENT TIME WHEN TRANSITING CLASS D AIRSPACE TO AVOID FLYING INTO THE OVERLYING CLASS B AIRSPACE.
Narrative: WHILE PASSING THROUGH CLASS D AIRSPACE SURROUNDING DAA ARPT FROM W TO E AT APPROX 2000 FT MSL, I MAY NOT HAVE DSNDED PROMPTLY ENOUGH TO GET BELOW THE 1500 FT MSL CEILING OF THE ADJOINING CLASS B AIRSPACE. MY ATTN WAS DIVERTED PARTIALLY DUE TO COMS PROBS WITH THE DAA CTLR. HE CLAIMED OUR RADIO WAS DEFECTIVE ALTHOUGH WE HAD NO PROBS WITH CTLRS PRIOR TO OR AFTER FLYING THROUGH DAA AIRSPACE.
