Narrative:
While climbing from FL355 to FL370 at 600 FPM, we were asked by the controller if we could be at FL370 in 2 mins. I mistakenly computed that, yes, we could be there in 2 mins. At FL364 and 500 FPM, the controller queried if we could be level in 30 seconds. Though it was close, we were not technically going to make it. We told the controller and he issued us a 90 degree turn to the right. The controller was extremely agitated and chided us for not telling him earlier. Indeed it is paramount to safety to provide controllers with accurate information, which I have always tried to do. In the future, I will verify all my computations with the other crew member to ensure greater accuracy. This is particularly pertinent on days when we are growing fatigued, as we were on this day.

Title: PLT UNABLE TO COMPLY WITH ZHU ARTCC CTLR INSTRUCTION TO REACH FL370 FROM FL355 IN 2 MINS.
Narrative: WHILE CLBING FROM FL355 TO FL370 AT 600 FPM, WE WERE ASKED BY THE CTLR IF WE COULD BE AT FL370 IN 2 MINS. I MISTAKENLY COMPUTED THAT, YES, WE COULD BE THERE IN 2 MINS. AT FL364 AND 500 FPM, THE CTLR QUERIED IF WE COULD BE LEVEL IN 30 SECONDS. THOUGH IT WAS CLOSE, WE WERE NOT TECHNICALLY GOING TO MAKE IT. WE TOLD THE CTLR AND HE ISSUED US A 90 DEG TURN TO THE R. THE CTLR WAS EXTREMELY AGITATED AND CHIDED US FOR NOT TELLING HIM EARLIER. INDEED IT IS PARAMOUNT TO SAFETY TO PROVIDE CTLRS WITH ACCURATE INFO, WHICH I HAVE ALWAYS TRIED TO DO. IN THE FUTURE, I WILL VERIFY ALL MY COMPUTATIONS WITH THE OTHER CREW MEMBER TO ENSURE GREATER ACCURACY. THIS IS PARTICULARLY PERTINENT ON DAYS WHEN WE ARE GROWING FATIGUED, AS WE WERE ON THIS DAY.
