Narrative:
Arrived at atl airport at XA45. Maintenance said we were taking first aircraft (closest to maintenance office). Other aircraft was sitting in darkness at furthest parking spot. Went to aircraft that was being loaded and refueled, did interior preflight, and then exterior preflight. Returned to cockpit. Aircraft loading was completed. Did takeoff data and left gate. Upon arrival at destination, was informed that release papers were for second aircraft.
