Narrative:
On the evening of dec/xa/00 at approximately XA00, I was on an IFR flight in VMC under approach control on final. I initially had the runway 18L in sight. Then was told to look for traffic (jetstream). Upon confirming visual contact north the traffic, I was instructed to follow the traffic to runway 18L. Then approach instructed me to conduct an s-turn due to spacing -- a 10 KT overtake -- and gave me a heading of 090 degrees. After a brief period I was instructed to turn back to the right. A short time later approach told me to contact the tower. After 2-3 calls to the tower, they did not respond. I realized I was approaching runway 18R final approach course and began an immediate turn back to the left. At this time, radio contact with tower was established. I was informed to continue the left turn as there was traffic on runway 18R final. This traffic had not been called previously. Both aircraft landed without incident. No deviation was conducted. I was instructed to telephone the watch supervisor as soon as possible. At that time I was informed of a near miss 1/2 mi, same altitude.

Title: PLT OF A BEECH BE36 LOST SIGHT OF ACFT ASSIGNED TO FOLLOW WHILE DOING S-TURNS TO KEEP SPACING AND TWR CONTACT FOR A FEW MOMENTS RESULTING IN LOSING LEGAL SEPARATION WITH AN UNKNOWN ACFT.
Narrative: ON THE EVENING OF DEC/XA/00 AT APPROX XA00, I WAS ON AN IFR FLT IN VMC UNDER APCH CTL ON FINAL. I INITIALLY HAD THE RWY 18L IN SIGHT. THEN WAS TOLD TO LOOK FOR TFC (JETSTREAM). UPON CONFIRMING VISUAL CONTACT N THE TFC, I WAS INSTRUCTED TO FOLLOW THE TFC TO RWY 18L. THEN APCH INSTRUCTED ME TO CONDUCT AN S-TURN DUE TO SPACING -- A 10 KT OVERTAKE -- AND GAVE ME A HDG OF 090 DEGS. AFTER A BRIEF PERIOD I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TURN BACK TO THE R. A SHORT TIME LATER APCH TOLD ME TO CONTACT THE TWR. AFTER 2-3 CALLS TO THE TWR, THEY DID NOT RESPOND. I REALIZED I WAS APCHING RWY 18R FINAL APCH COURSE AND BEGAN AN IMMEDIATE TURN BACK TO THE L. AT THIS TIME, RADIO CONTACT WITH TWR WAS ESTABLISHED. I WAS INFORMED TO CONTINUE THE L TURN AS THERE WAS TFC ON RWY 18R FINAL. THIS TFC HAD NOT BEEN CALLED PREVIOUSLY. BOTH ACFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. NO DEV WAS CONDUCTED. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TELEPHONE THE WATCH SUPVR ASAP. AT THAT TIME I WAS INFORMED OF A NEAR MISS 1/2 MI, SAME ALT.
