Primary Problem | Passenger Human Performance |
Narrative:
Some passenger witnessed 2 passenger (from row X, seats a/B) come out of a lavatory and noticed smoke. The witnesses told a flight attendant, who found 2 cigarettes in the trash in the lavatory. The purser went to talk to the passenger in row X seats a/B and they became violent and out of control. Then I was informed that we were landing the plane in slc. I was not directly involved. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that she was in the business class galley behind a curtain when all of this transpired. The male flight attendant that she was working with went back to help the purser. She believes that the people started to come out of their seats and lunge at the purser, when the male flight attendant arrived. The captain made an announcement about landing in slc, well after the descent had started, and stated it was to take some problem passenger off. The rest of the passenger didn't seem apprehensive about it. The police and fbi met the flight in slc and escorted the people off.

Title: CABIN ATTENDANT RPT, B767-300, JFK-SFO. 2 PAX SMOKED IN LAVATORY, DISCARDED CIGARETTES IN TRASH. VERBALLY ASSAULTED PURSER. CAPT DIVERTED TO SLC. POLICE REMOVED PAX.
Narrative: SOME PAX WITNESSED 2 PAX (FROM ROW X, SEATS A/B) COME OUT OF A LAVATORY AND NOTICED SMOKE. THE WITNESSES TOLD A FLT ATTENDANT, WHO FOUND 2 CIGARETTES IN THE TRASH IN THE LAVATORY. THE PURSER WENT TO TALK TO THE PAX IN ROW X SEATS A/B AND THEY BECAME VIOLENT AND OUT OF CTL. THEN I WAS INFORMED THAT WE WERE LNDG THE PLANE IN SLC. I WAS NOT DIRECTLY INVOLVED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THAT SHE WAS IN THE BUSINESS CLASS GALLEY BEHIND A CURTAIN WHEN ALL OF THIS TRANSPIRED. THE MALE FLT ATTENDANT THAT SHE WAS WORKING WITH WENT BACK TO HELP THE PURSER. SHE BELIEVES THAT THE PEOPLE STARTED TO COME OUT OF THEIR SEATS AND LUNGE AT THE PURSER, WHEN THE MALE FLT ATTENDANT ARRIVED. THE CAPT MADE AN ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT LNDG IN SLC, WELL AFTER THE DSCNT HAD STARTED, AND STATED IT WAS TO TAKE SOME PROB PAX OFF. THE REST OF THE PAX DIDN'T SEEM APPREHENSIVE ABOUT IT. THE POLICE AND FBI MET THE FLT IN SLC AND ESCORTED THE PEOPLE OFF.
