Narrative:
During cruise flight at FL190 the left thrust reverser came unlocked and deployed. Memory items and QRH procedures were followed resulting in shutting the left engine down. An emergency was declared and we made an uneventful landing in cmh. The flight originated from tol enroute to cvg. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the aircraft was in cruise at FL190 and engines were at cruise power setting 92% to 95% N1. The reporter said the airplane started to buffet then the amber reverser unlock light was illuminated but never got the green deploy light. The reporter said the airplane had a history of previous maintenance reports of EICAS reverser unsafe to arm lights message faults. The reporter said the emergency procedures required the engine to be shut down. The reporter stated maintenance has not reported the component failure to the crew or published any findings. The reporter stated the buffeting and handling was not like the simulator and should be revised to simulate the real world.

Title: A CANADAIR CL65 IN CRUISE AT FL190 DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED DUE TO L THRUST REVERSER UNCOMMANDED DEPLOYMENT.
Narrative: DURING CRUISE FLT AT FL190 THE L THRUST REVERSER CAME UNLOCKED AND DEPLOYED. MEMORY ITEMS AND QRH PROCS WERE FOLLOWED RESULTING IN SHUTTING THE L ENG DOWN. AN EMER WAS DECLARED AND WE MADE AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG IN CMH. THE FLT ORIGINATED FROM TOL ENROUTE TO CVG. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ACFT WAS IN CRUISE AT FL190 AND ENGS WERE AT CRUISE PWR SETTING 92% TO 95% N1. THE RPTR SAID THE AIRPLANE STARTED TO BUFFET THEN THE AMBER REVERSER UNLOCK LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED BUT NEVER GOT THE GREEN DEPLOY LIGHT. THE RPTR SAID THE AIRPLANE HAD A HISTORY OF PREVIOUS MAINT RPTS OF EICAS REVERSER UNSAFE TO ARM LIGHTS MSG FAULTS. THE RPTR SAID THE EMER PROCS REQUIRED THE ENG TO BE SHUT DOWN. THE RPTR STATED MAINT HAS NOT RPTED THE COMPONENT FAILURE TO THE CREW OR PUBLISHED ANY FINDINGS. THE RPTR STATED THE BUFFETING AND HANDLING WAS NOT LIKE THE SIMULATOR AND SHOULD BE REVISED TO SIMULATE THE REAL WORLD.
