Narrative:

On nov/xa/00, aircraft xyz came in for maintenance. There was a logbook write-up with air conditioning system. The write-up was unable to get warm air into the flight compartment without overheating passenger. Upon troubleshooting, found cabin temperature sensor inoperative, of which I replaced. Also, I replaced a cockpit temperature sensor and temperature trim valve. Found that the flight compartment rheostat was inoperative. I went to the avionics department to get an air conditioning panel, but none were in stock. So avionics department gave me a part number for the rheostat. I went to install the rheostat and noticed it didn't look the same. The avionics department assured me that it was the right part, it's an interchangeable rheostat. So I installed it, and still no fix with the discrepancy. I xferred back to the logbook for a continued MEL. Then on dec/xc/00, at another maintenance base, another mechanic found that the rheostat was the wrong part. So they replaced the air conditioning panel -- operations checked good.
