Narrative:
The removal of a thrust reverser blocker door was found, during a layover check, to be missing (a 3 inch by 3 inch section on forward edge). Day shift had started removing the panel without deploying the thrust reverser first, as called for in the maintenance manual. The time was XA00 on dec/xa/00. Operations needed the aircraft to fly on an XC00 ready time. I checked the maintenance manual procedures and realized I had to deploy the thrust reverser in order to remove the panel. I informed my lead of the new delay, due to the time it would take to reinstall some removed fasteners. This was required in order to deploy the thrust reverser. With the help of another technician, we placed a work platform into the #2 engine thrust reverser. We reinstalled the removed fasteners and pneumatically deployed the thrust reverser. Upon completion of installing the necessary fasteners, we started the APU, applied pneumatic air to #2 system and proceeded to deploy the #2 thrust reverser. We observed the 'reverser pressure' light, the 'transit' light, but no green 'reverser' light. We shut down the APU after removing the air load and went to check on the #2 engine thrust reverser. At this point we found the platform we installed jammed in the deployed thrust reverser. This is why we did not get the green 'reverse' light. I immediately contacted my lead mechanic. We informed our foreman. We thoroughly inspected the thrust reverser and decided to stow the thrust reverser. We were able to remove the platform and the damaged blocker doors from the 9 O'clock to 3 O'clock position and replace them with svcable blockers. 1 deflector vane (box) was damaged and replaced. The gas generator fairing was replaced due to damage. WX may have been a factor due to cold, wet conditions. Working on a lift truck, with rain gear on, was very restrictive. The hood was blocking my peripheral vision. Trying to meet a deadline caused great urgency to complete the task.

Title: AN L1011-200 INCURRED DAMAGE TO THE #2 ENG FAN THRUST REVERSER BLOCKER DOORS AND THRUST REVERSER FAIRING BY OPERATING THE THRUST REVERSER WITH A WORK STAND INSTALLED.
Narrative: THE REMOVAL OF A THRUST REVERSER BLOCKER DOOR WAS FOUND, DURING A LAYOVER CHK, TO BE MISSING (A 3 INCH BY 3 INCH SECTION ON FORWARD EDGE). DAY SHIFT HAD STARTED REMOVING THE PANEL WITHOUT DEPLOYING THE THRUST REVERSER FIRST, AS CALLED FOR IN THE MAINT MANUAL. THE TIME WAS XA00 ON DEC/XA/00. OPS NEEDED THE ACFT TO FLY ON AN XC00 READY TIME. I CHKED THE MAINT MANUAL PROCS AND REALIZED I HAD TO DEPLOY THE THRUST REVERSER IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE PANEL. I INFORMED MY LEAD OF THE NEW DELAY, DUE TO THE TIME IT WOULD TAKE TO REINSTALL SOME REMOVED FASTENERS. THIS WAS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO DEPLOY THE THRUST REVERSER. WITH THE HELP OF ANOTHER TECHNICIAN, WE PLACED A WORK PLATFORM INTO THE #2 ENG THRUST REVERSER. WE REINSTALLED THE REMOVED FASTENERS AND PNEUMATICALLY DEPLOYED THE THRUST REVERSER. UPON COMPLETION OF INSTALLING THE NECESSARY FASTENERS, WE STARTED THE APU, APPLIED PNEUMATIC AIR TO #2 SYS AND PROCEEDED TO DEPLOY THE #2 THRUST REVERSER. WE OBSERVED THE 'REVERSER PRESSURE' LIGHT, THE 'TRANSIT' LIGHT, BUT NO GREEN 'REVERSER' LIGHT. WE SHUT DOWN THE APU AFTER REMOVING THE AIR LOAD AND WENT TO CHK ON THE #2 ENG THRUST REVERSER. AT THIS POINT WE FOUND THE PLATFORM WE INSTALLED JAMMED IN THE DEPLOYED THRUST REVERSER. THIS IS WHY WE DID NOT GET THE GREEN 'REVERSE' LIGHT. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED MY LEAD MECH. WE INFORMED OUR FOREMAN. WE THOROUGHLY INSPECTED THE THRUST REVERSER AND DECIDED TO STOW THE THRUST REVERSER. WE WERE ABLE TO REMOVE THE PLATFORM AND THE DAMAGED BLOCKER DOORS FROM THE 9 O'CLOCK TO 3 O'CLOCK POS AND REPLACE THEM WITH SVCABLE BLOCKERS.
