Narrative:
Foreign air carrier, an airbus 340 taxied into us (DC9) and impacted our tail with their wing. We (DC9) were stopped with parking brake set. We were minneapolis to chicago. The A340 hit us at XA50 on dec/xa/00. After captain landed on runway 9L ord, ground control cleared us to taxi via taxiway P, taxiway H to taxiway B. Proceeded down taxiway B to A10. In the intersection of A10 and taxiway B there was a disabled aircraft waiting for a tug. The captain stopped and set the parking brake. Ground asked us if we could still make A9. I said no, we were too far past A9 and unable to turn back. Ground confirmed that the aircraft at A10/taxiway B was waiting for a tug. Ground told us to hold position until aircraft was moved. Captain made a PA to passenger informing them there was congestion and it would be a few mins until we could taxi in to the gate. I remained on ground frequency. Within a few mins after the PA, the nose of DC9 abruptly moved to left. The plane (our DC9) was stopped with the brakes set before this movement. Captain immediately confirmed the brakes were set. We stopped after the movement and the flight attendants came to the cockpit and said an aircraft wing (A340) hit our tail. From the flight deck, we thought it was jet blast. We notified ground control and asked for the trucks to come and inspect us. Ground told us the foreign A340 wing hit our tail. There were no injuries in DC9. There were no fire indications or warnings after impact. The flight attendants kept the cabin secure. The foreign 340 airbus was pushed back. DC9 was towed in.

Title: AN A340 COLLIDED WITH A STOPPED DC9 AT TXWY A10 AT ORD.
Narrative: FOREIGN ACR, AN AIRBUS 340 TAXIED INTO US (DC9) AND IMPACTED OUR TAIL WITH THEIR WING. WE (DC9) WERE STOPPED WITH PARKING BRAKE SET. WE WERE MINNEAPOLIS TO CHICAGO. THE A340 HIT US AT XA50 ON DEC/XA/00. AFTER CAPT LANDED ON RWY 9L ORD, GND CTL CLRED US TO TAXI VIA TXWY P, TXWY H TO TXWY B. PROCEEDED DOWN TXWY B TO A10. IN THE INTXN OF A10 AND TXWY B THERE WAS A DISABLED ACFT WAITING FOR A TUG. THE CAPT STOPPED AND SET THE PARKING BRAKE. GND ASKED US IF WE COULD STILL MAKE A9. I SAID NO, WE WERE TOO FAR PAST A9 AND UNABLE TO TURN BACK. GND CONFIRMED THAT THE ACFT AT A10/TXWY B WAS WAITING FOR A TUG. GND TOLD US TO HOLD POS UNTIL ACFT WAS MOVED. CAPT MADE A PA TO PAX INFORMING THEM THERE WAS CONGESTION AND IT WOULD BE A FEW MINS UNTIL WE COULD TAXI IN TO THE GATE. I REMAINED ON GND FREQ. WITHIN A FEW MINS AFTER THE PA, THE NOSE OF DC9 ABRUPTLY MOVED TO L. THE PLANE (OUR DC9) WAS STOPPED WITH THE BRAKES SET BEFORE THIS MOVEMENT. CAPT IMMEDIATELY CONFIRMED THE BRAKES WERE SET. WE STOPPED AFTER THE MOVEMENT AND THE FLT ATTENDANTS CAME TO THE COCKPIT AND SAID AN ACFT WING (A340) HIT OUR TAIL. FROM THE FLT DECK, WE THOUGHT IT WAS JET BLAST. WE NOTIFIED GND CTL AND ASKED FOR THE TRUCKS TO COME AND INSPECT US. GND TOLD US THE FOREIGN A340 WING HIT OUR TAIL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES IN DC9. THERE WERE NO FIRE INDICATIONS OR WARNINGS AFTER IMPACT. THE FLT ATTENDANTS KEPT THE CABIN SECURE. THE FOREIGN 340 AIRBUS WAS PUSHED BACK. DC9 WAS TOWED IN.
