Narrative:
Last leg of IOE. First officer (PF) approximately 40 mi north of lrp received clearance to cross 20 mi north of lrp at FL280. First officer tried to enter clearance in FMC but had difficulties. I assumed PF duties but was unable to meet crossing even with full speed brake. ZNY gave relief with new crossing restr lrp at 16000 ft and 250 KTS. Made lrp restr. Asked center if there was problem with no making initial crossing restr. Reply was negative. Lesson learned: even during IOE, practice what we preach. PF shouldn't type.
