Narrative:
Approximately 35 NM east of bqs on descent to mci with clearance to FL280. Passing through FL297, ZKC told us to amend altitude to FL290, then told us to turn immediately left to heading 090 degrees, which was approximately a 180 degree turn. I used 45 degrees of bank to get around turn. Soon thereafter, we got an RA to climb. Air carrier Y was approximately 700 ft below, but 2-3 mi to our right. The RA lasted approximately 6 seconds. We were cleared back to bqs. Nothing was said by ATC to us about the cause of the turn or the amended altitude. I do not believe there were any deviations from clrncs by us.

Title: B733 FLC INITIATE EVASIVE TCASII CLB AFTER ZKC REVERSE COURSE HDG ASSIGNMENT AND AMENDED ALT CHANGE. B733 FLC OBSERVE ANOTHER ACR BELOW AND AWAY FROM THEIR ACFT.
Narrative: APPROX 35 NM E OF BQS ON DSCNT TO MCI WITH CLRNC TO FL280. PASSING THROUGH FL297, ZKC TOLD US TO AMEND ALT TO FL290, THEN TOLD US TO TURN IMMEDIATELY L TO HDG 090 DEGS, WHICH WAS APPROX A 180 DEG TURN. I USED 45 DEGS OF BANK TO GET AROUND TURN. SOON THEREAFTER, WE GOT AN RA TO CLB. ACR Y WAS APPROX 700 FT BELOW, BUT 2-3 MI TO OUR R. THE RA LASTED APPROX 6 SECONDS. WE WERE CLRED BACK TO BQS. NOTHING WAS SAID BY ATC TO US ABOUT THE CAUSE OF THE TURN OR THE AMENDED ALT. I DO NOT BELIEVE THERE WERE ANY DEVS FROM CLRNCS BY US.
