Narrative:

We were cleared down to 2000 ft and told to intercept the ILS runway 6 localizer on our way to teb. It was a beautiful VFR day and I called the field in sight at about 18 mi. A little while later, the controller said we were cleared for the ILS runway 6 approach circle-O-land on runway 1. On our approach chart review, we missed a mandatory 1500 ft altitude on the approach. Consequently, we were approximately at 2000 ft waiting to intercept the GS when approach called and informed us we should be at 1500 ft. A beautiful VFR day had lulled us into complacency on our approach chart review. I believe another fix for this type of problem would be for approach to tell flcs to, at the appropriate time, 'descend to 1500 ft, cleared for the ILS runway 6 approach.'

Title: FLC OF A LEAR JET FAILED TO DSND FROM TRANSITION ALT TO INTERCEPT GS WHEN CLRED FOR THE APCH RESULTING IN APCH CTLR ISSUING AN ALERT THAT THEY SHOULD BE AT A LOWER ALT.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED DOWN TO 2000 FT AND TOLD TO INTERCEPT THE ILS RWY 6 LOC ON OUR WAY TO TEB. IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL VFR DAY AND I CALLED THE FIELD IN SIGHT AT ABOUT 18 MI. A LITTLE WHILE LATER, THE CTLR SAID WE WERE CLRED FOR THE ILS RWY 6 APCH CIRCLE-O-LAND ON RWY 1. ON OUR APCH CHART REVIEW, WE MISSED A MANDATORY 1500 FT ALT ON THE APCH. CONSEQUENTLY, WE WERE APPROX AT 2000 FT WAITING TO INTERCEPT THE GS WHEN APCH CALLED AND INFORMED US WE SHOULD BE AT 1500 FT. A BEAUTIFUL VFR DAY HAD LULLED US INTO COMPLACENCY ON OUR APCH CHART REVIEW. I BELIEVE ANOTHER FIX FOR THIS TYPE OF PROB WOULD BE FOR APCH TO TELL FLCS TO, AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME, 'DSND TO 1500 FT, CLRED FOR THE ILS RWY 6 APCH.'
