Narrative:
We experienced a 100+ KT tailwind on the shine 5 arrival into clt. I was flying and was distraction by the tailwind. I briefed the runway 18L approach plate by accident, then realized my error and started to brief the runway 18R approach (we were assigned runway 18R all along). The first officer never caught any of the wrong brief, but set himself up for the runway 18R approach, while I was still set up for the runway 18L approach. As a result of this error and the extreme tailwind, we ended up on the runway 18L localizer. Fortunately, there was no traffic on runway 18L and we were vectored around to runway 18R and landed successfully. The first officer, who was supposed to back me up, never realized the brief or when I went through the runway 18R localizer. In fact, the first officer said my radio was 'tuned and idented,' when in fact, it was not.
