Narrative:

Departed dfw with what we thought was radar vector to waco, then as filed. We assume now it was to be kean 5 departure, radar vector waco, as filed. We maintained runway heading expecting radar vector to waco. We departed runway 18L straight out. Upon switching to departure control, we realized the error. ATC queried us about our clearance instead of turning us to follow what they really expected. Period of a few moments when I did not know whether to continue straight out or turn. We read back the clearance we understood and no correction was made by ATC. Thus, we followed our understanding.
