Narrative:

After flight from mdw-fll, found structural damage to aft right edge of elevator. Flight to fll uneventful, no flutter or vibration. Morning departure in mdw, overcast, raining, dark. First officer's preflight apparently missed damage. Aircraft was at hangar overnight, had terminal preflight check and was taxied to gate by maintenance personnel. Lesson learned: be extra vigilant on early preflight even when cold, park, and wet. Damage required elevator replacement.
