Narrative:
Air carrier airlines ship xyz had the #3 high pressure valve on maintenance carryover per MEL 36-11-01. The restr remark in the computer showed the #2 high pressure valve was inoperative. Air carrier flight XXX called on the radio wanting to put the #3 pack valve on maintenance carryover per MEL 21-21-01A. This is a flight crew placard item. I gave them a contract number per our procedures. The crew called back after airborne and advised me this MEL was not legal as the #3 high pressure valve was on maintenance carryover also. MEL 21-21-01A requires the high pressure valve, isolation valve and xbleed valve be operative for the respective pack valve. I read the write-up for the high pressure valve and it was for #3 engine, not #2 as it was restr. I am stopping this aircraft in ZZZ to have this pack repaired before further flight. This was not intentional, but caused by a typographical error.
