Narrative:
We were scheduled to crew for XA35 of block time for the day. The first leg diverted due to WX at our destination. The company then canceled our second leg and rescheduled us to ferry our aircraft to a down-line station to continue our scheduled crew from the third leg on. With the diversion and ferry flight and then continuing our scheduled day would be for a total block of 8 hours 6 mins. When I questioned the legality of the crew, I was told by the dispatcher that the reschedule was legal due to 'circumstances beyond the operator's control.' I continued to question whether the reschedule was legal or not and was advised the same from crew scheduling, training department, and director of flying, that the reschedule was legal due to 'circumstances beyond the operator's control.' we flew the rescheduled crew and finished the day with 8 hours 19 mins of block.
