Narrative:
In the company ramp area, adjacent to a company gate, holding south of taxiway T across from T3, I requested clearance from fll ground control to taxi onto taxiway T behind a company B737 holding short of T2 on taxiway T. Ground control informed me the area was controled by company ramp (and past experience confirmed this). I then taxied onto taxiway T up to the B737 on taxiway T and holding short of T2 (behind company gate), while monitoring company ramp frequency. My first officer believed this was not legal, since the area in question is shown to be a taxiway on commercial plate 10-9. (The special commercial chart/company page 10 does not show it as a taxiway, but instead shows 'terminal 2'). I believe the commercial chart page 10-9 should be corrected, deleting taxiway T between T2 and T3. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter (PIC) and first officer were at odds as to where they should be calling ground control for clearance for pushback and taxi instructions. Ground controller advised that in their area it was uncontrolled. First officer still did not agree, but took taxi instructions anyway. Reporter states what actions are required of the company/flight crew in bos are not conducted in fll. The reporter recommends standardization of all united states airports, with and without control towers.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B737 FLC CONCERNED WITH COMPANY PROCS, ARPT CHARTING AND PERCEIVED CONTRACTIONS.
Narrative: IN THE COMPANY RAMP AREA, ADJACENT TO A COMPANY GATE, HOLDING S OF TXWY T ACROSS FROM T3, I REQUESTED CLRNC FROM FLL GND CTL TO TAXI ONTO TXWY T BEHIND A COMPANY B737 HOLDING SHORT OF T2 ON TXWY T. GND CTL INFORMED ME THE AREA WAS CTLED BY COMPANY RAMP (AND PAST EXPERIENCE CONFIRMED THIS). I THEN TAXIED ONTO TXWY T UP TO THE B737 ON TXWY T AND HOLDING SHORT OF T2 (BEHIND COMPANY GATE), WHILE MONITORING COMPANY RAMP FREQ. MY FO BELIEVED THIS WAS NOT LEGAL, SINCE THE AREA IN QUESTION IS SHOWN TO BE A TXWY ON COMMERCIAL PLATE 10-9. (THE SPECIAL COMMERCIAL CHART/COMPANY PAGE 10 DOES NOT SHOW IT AS A TXWY, BUT INSTEAD SHOWS 'TERMINAL 2'). I BELIEVE THE COMMERCIAL CHART PAGE 10-9 SHOULD BE CORRECTED, DELETING TXWY T BTWN T2 AND T3. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR (PIC) AND FO WERE AT ODDS AS TO WHERE THEY SHOULD BE CALLING GND CTL FOR CLRNC FOR PUSHBACK AND TAXI INSTRUCTIONS. GND CTLR ADVISED THAT IN THEIR AREA IT WAS UNCTLED. FO STILL DID NOT AGREE, BUT TOOK TAXI INSTRUCTIONS ANYWAY. RPTR STATES WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED OF THE COMPANY/FLC IN BOS ARE NOT CONDUCTED IN FLL. THE RPTR RECOMMENDS STANDARDIZATION OF ALL UNITED STATES ARPTS, WITH AND WITHOUT CTL TWRS.
