Narrative:
While cruising at FL270 about 150 mi west of rod VOR, we encountered a TCASII resolution. We responded to the resolution as directed by the TCASII by descending about 1000 ft. When clear of conflict, we returned to FL270 and reported the deviation in altitude to ZID. The controller seemed indifferent to the fact we had to leave our assigned altitude and asked for no further information.

Title: AN MD80 FLC DSNDS FROM CRUISE ALT OF FL270 IN RESPONSE TO A TCASII RA FROM UNRPTED TFC 150 MI W OF ROD, OH.
Narrative: WHILE CRUISING AT FL270 ABOUT 150 MI W OF ROD VOR, WE ENCOUNTERED A TCASII RESOLUTION. WE RESPONDED TO THE RESOLUTION AS DIRECTED BY THE TCASII BY DSNDING ABOUT 1000 FT. WHEN CLR OF CONFLICT, WE RETURNED TO FL270 AND RPTED THE DEV IN ALT TO ZID. THE CTLR SEEMED INDIFFERENT TO THE FACT WE HAD TO LEAVE OUR ASSIGNED ALT AND ASKED FOR NO FURTHER INFO.
