Narrative:
We were being vectored, transitioning from the en route to approach phase and in a descent. We had been cleared to 8000 ft. Either the autoplt did not capture the altitude or the trim wheel was moved and we descended through the assigned altitude. The controller called at 7700 ft and asked where we wre going. The captain immediately took over manually and climbed back up. I believe we reached 7500 ft before recovery.
