Air Traffic Incident | Pilot Deviation |
Narrative:
Clearance was direct shine intersection, shine 5 clt. FMC stored route was direct sug VOR, shine intersection, shine 5 clt. We were flying direct sug when avl departure asked if we were direct shine. We replied 'no, direct sug, shine.' she told us to proceed direct shine and shine 5 to clt. Don't think other traffic was a factor. Clearance shorthand, FMS/FMC stored route, were contributing factors. Flight was avl-clt, both pilots were very familiar with area, ATC routing, FMS stored route. Missed line selecting direct shine and executing?

Title: B737-400 FLC INCORRECTLY LOADED AND EXECUTED ATC CLRNC IN FMS DATABASE.
Narrative: CLRNC WAS DIRECT SHINE INTXN, SHINE 5 CLT. FMC STORED RTE WAS DIRECT SUG VOR, SHINE INTXN, SHINE 5 CLT. WE WERE FLYING DIRECT SUG WHEN AVL DEP ASKED IF WE WERE DIRECT SHINE. WE REPLIED 'NO, DIRECT SUG, SHINE.' SHE TOLD US TO PROCEED DIRECT SHINE AND SHINE 5 TO CLT. DON'T THINK OTHER TFC WAS A FACTOR. CLRNC SHORTHAND, FMS/FMC STORED RTE, WERE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS. FLT WAS AVL-CLT, BOTH PLTS WERE VERY FAMILIAR WITH AREA, ATC ROUTING, FMS STORED RTE. MISSED LINE SELECTING DIRECT SHINE AND EXECUTING?
