Narrative:
We were cleared for approach to runway 31R. When we lowered the landing gear, the landing gear did not extend. We informed the approach controller and requested a vector while we ran the checklist. It was discovered that a circuit breaker had popped. When the landing control circuit breaker was reset, the gear extended and indicated normal (down and locked). That was the end of the procedure. However, we contacted our maintenance department to confirm no other procedures were necessary. The mechanic we spoke with confirmed no other procedure was necessary. We asked if they will wanted to inspect the aircraft upon our return. The mechanic said no, no write-up in the aircraft maintenance log was necessary. We then returned and landed uneventfully. We did not declare an emergency, however, the tower had called out the crash fire rescue equipment trucks for us. After we landed, we later departed on another flight. I should not have followed the mechanic's instructions in regards to the aircraft maintenance log and written the airplane up as having a maintenance discrepancy.

Title: A SAAB 340B IS UNLIKELY TO EXTEND LNDG GEAR ON APCH AND DISCOVERS CIRCUIT BREAKER TRIPPED. RESET CIRCUIT BREAKER GEAR EXTENDS OK. NO LOG ENTRY MADE ON GEAR PROB.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR APCH TO RWY 31R. WHEN WE LOWERED THE LNDG GEAR, THE LNDG GEAR DID NOT EXTEND. WE INFORMED THE APCH CTLR AND REQUESTED A VECTOR WHILE WE RAN THE CHKLIST. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT A CIRCUIT BREAKER HAD POPPED. WHEN THE LNDG CTL CIRCUIT BREAKER WAS RESET, THE GEAR EXTENDED AND INDICATED NORMAL (DOWN AND LOCKED). THAT WAS THE END OF THE PROC. HOWEVER, WE CONTACTED OUR MAINT DEPT TO CONFIRM NO OTHER PROCS WERE NECESSARY. THE MECH WE SPOKE WITH CONFIRMED NO OTHER PROC WAS NECESSARY. WE ASKED IF THEY WILL WANTED TO INSPECT THE ACFT UPON OUR RETURN. THE MECH SAID NO, NO WRITE-UP IN THE ACFT MAINT LOG WAS NECESSARY. WE THEN RETURNED AND LANDED UNEVENTFULLY. WE DID NOT DECLARE AN EMER, HOWEVER, THE TWR HAD CALLED OUT THE CFR TRUCKS FOR US. AFTER WE LANDED, WE LATER DEPARTED ON ANOTHER FLT. I SHOULD NOT HAVE FOLLOWED THE MECH'S INSTRUCTIONS IN REGARDS TO THE ACFT MAINT LOG AND WRITTEN THE AIRPLANE UP AS HAVING A MAINT DISCREPANCY.
