Narrative:

During climb from bak (columbus, in), ZID cleared us to FL210. Shortly thereafter, I read back FL210 to the controller and we were handed off to another sector of ZID when I checked in climbing to FL210. After leveloff at FL210, the controller asked us to 'say altitude.' I reported level at FL210 when I realized we had filed for FL200 for the wbound trip. I stated that we were cleared to FL210 by the previous sector and asked if she wanted us at FL200. She said to maintain FL210. I feel that more attention needs to be paid by controllers to pilot's readbacks of assigned altitudes.

Title: ZID CTLR ISSUES CLB CLRNC TO FL210 TO AN H25B FLT CREW THAT IS LATER DETERMINED BY ANOTHER ZID CTLR AS 'WRONG ALT FOR DIRECTION OF FLT.'

Narrative: DURING CLB FROM BAK (COLUMBUS, IN), ZID CLRED US TO FL210. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, I READ BACK FL210 TO THE CTLR AND WE WERE HANDED OFF TO ANOTHER SECTOR OF ZID WHEN I CHKED IN CLBING TO FL210. AFTER LEVELOFF AT FL210, THE CTLR ASKED US TO 'SAY ALT.' I RPTED LEVEL AT FL210 WHEN I REALIZED WE HAD FILED FOR FL200 FOR THE WBOUND TRIP. I STATED THAT WE WERE CLRED TO FL210 BY THE PREVIOUS SECTOR AND ASKED IF SHE WANTED US AT FL200. SHE SAID TO MAINTAIN FL210. I FEEL THAT MORE ATTN NEEDS TO BE PAID BY CTLRS TO PLT'S READBACKS OF ASSIGNED ALTS.
