Narrative:
Dfw was landing to the north and we were on the byp.BYP3 arrival. The captain and myself misread the procedure and executed a turn and at the lemyn fix to 190 degrees. ATC queried us as to our heading and gave us a corrective action to rejoin the arrival. Upon studying the arrival again, we realized that heading was for 'non turbojets.' we had briefed the arrival in cruise and felt we were familiar with it. Neither of us had been to dfw with any frequency and were striving to be extra vigilant. However, we both misread this vital wording. Rainshowers were in the vicinity along with the regular high volume of traffic. This, combined with a quick glance down to check our progress along the arrival, led us to proceed on the wrong course. Besides the obvious (of our being more vigilant) some consideration might be given to changing the 2 very similar 'turbojets' versus 'non turbojets' words to 'turbojets' versus 'propellers' or 'other aircraft' on the arrival charting. This might aid pilots in easily differentiating the courses.

Title: ACR FLC MISREAD AND BRIEF DFW STAR AND TURN AT THE WRONG INTXN.
Narrative: DFW WAS LNDG TO THE N AND WE WERE ON THE BYP.BYP3 ARR. THE CAPT AND MYSELF MISREAD THE PROC AND EXECUTED A TURN AND AT THE LEMYN FIX TO 190 DEGS. ATC QUERIED US AS TO OUR HDG AND GAVE US A CORRECTIVE ACTION TO REJOIN THE ARR. UPON STUDYING THE ARR AGAIN, WE REALIZED THAT HDG WAS FOR 'NON TURBOJETS.' WE HAD BRIEFED THE ARR IN CRUISE AND FELT WE WERE FAMILIAR WITH IT. NEITHER OF US HAD BEEN TO DFW WITH ANY FREQ AND WERE STRIVING TO BE EXTRA VIGILANT. HOWEVER, WE BOTH MISREAD THIS VITAL WORDING. RAINSHOWERS WERE IN THE VICINITY ALONG WITH THE REGULAR HIGH VOLUME OF TFC. THIS, COMBINED WITH A QUICK GLANCE DOWN TO CHK OUR PROGRESS ALONG THE ARR, LED US TO PROCEED ON THE WRONG COURSE. BESIDES THE OBVIOUS (OF OUR BEING MORE VIGILANT) SOME CONSIDERATION MIGHT BE GIVEN TO CHANGING THE 2 VERY SIMILAR 'TURBOJETS' VERSUS 'NON TURBOJETS' WORDS TO 'TURBOJETS' VERSUS 'PROPS' OR 'OTHER ACFT' ON THE ARR CHARTING. THIS MIGHT AID PLTS IN EASILY DIFFERENTIATING THE COURSES.
