Narrative:
While on an approach vector to descend and maintain 2900 ft, I was hand flying the approach and went through 2900 ft altitude to 2640 ft. This was 260 ft below the assigned 2900 ft ATC instruction. However, the 300 ft altitude warning on our aircraft did come on. I immediately climbed 260 ft to maintain 2900 ft until ATC gave a lower altitude assignment. ATC never mentioned deviation and no aircraft conflict existed. Causal factor: I was trying to instruct FMC procedures while hand flying in a very busy environment.
