Narrative:

While at FL330 approaching nashville, the #3 engine fire warning light illuminated steady with an associated intermittent warning bell. The bell would not silence. All engine indications were normal. The engine fire checklist was accomplished. Our company's dispatch, maintenance control, and system operations control were consulted, and all were in agreement that the flight could safely divert to indianapolis.

Title: A B727 PAX FLT DIVERTS TO IND WHEN THEY HAVE A FIRE WARNING ON ENG #3. CREW COULD NOT SILENCE THE INTERMITTENT ALARM BELL, 80 MI N OF BNA, TN.

Narrative: WHILE AT FL330 APCHING NASHVILLE, THE #3 ENG FIRE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED STEADY WITH AN ASSOCIATED INTERMITTENT WARNING BELL. THE BELL WOULD NOT SILENCE. ALL ENG INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL. THE ENG FIRE CHKLIST WAS ACCOMPLISHED. OUR COMPANY'S DISPATCH, MAINT CTL, AND SYS OPS CTL WERE CONSULTED, AND ALL WERE IN AGREEMENT THAT THE FLT COULD SAFELY DIVERT TO INDIANAPOLIS.
