Narrative:
Cruising at FL280, received TA followed by 'descend, descend' RA. Disengaged autoplt and descended to FL277 and received 'monitor vertical speed.' returned to assigned altitude and advised ATC was aware of descending traffic at our 11 O'clock position, cleared to FL290. Aircraft did level off at FL290. Apparently, TCASII did not like his rate of descent.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A B757 FO DSNDS OUT OF HIS ASSIGNED ALT WHEN THE FLT RECEIVES A TCASII RA FOR DSNDING, OPPOSITE DIRECTION TFC LEVELING 1000 FT ABOVE THEM DURING A HIGH RATE OF DSCNT PROC NEAR MCI, MO.
Narrative: CRUISING AT FL280, RECEIVED TA FOLLOWED BY 'DSND, DSND' RA. DISENGAGED AUTOPLT AND DSNDED TO FL277 AND RECEIVED 'MONITOR VERT SPD.' RETURNED TO ASSIGNED ALT AND ADVISED ATC WAS AWARE OF DSNDING TFC AT OUR 11 O'CLOCK POS, CLRED TO FL290. ACFT DID LEVEL OFF AT FL290. APPARENTLY, TCASII DID NOT LIKE HIS RATE OF DSCNT.
