Narrative:
Flew for several mins at FL260 with local altimeter setting (not 29.92). Was given pilot's discretion to FL240, but stayed at FL260. Missed climb check (altimeter 29.92) due to turbulence and call to flight attendant (no excuse). Local altimeter was 30.34, approximately 380 ft difference.

Title: ALT UNDERSHOT DURING CLB WHEN PIC OF AN MD88 FAILS TO SET HIS ALTIMETER TO 29 PT 92 ON FLT TO ATL, GA.
Narrative: FLEW FOR SEVERAL MINS AT FL260 WITH LCL ALTIMETER SETTING (NOT 29.92). WAS GIVEN PLT'S DISCRETION TO FL240, BUT STAYED AT FL260. MISSED CLB CHK (ALTIMETER 29.92) DUE TO TURB AND CALL TO FLT ATTENDANT (NO EXCUSE). LCL ALTIMETER WAS 30.34, APPROX 380 FT DIFFERENCE.
