Narrative:
The event in question happened on apr/xa/01, while preparing for departure from seatac to mather field in sacramento. Because the B727 had an intermix of JT8D-7 and JT8D-9 engines, we needed a specific manual called an fpp (flight planning and performance) to determine the takeoff power settings for the -9 engines. This manual was missing from the aircraft. The captain called the company and asked to have the information faxed. He was told by the chief pilot that when engines are 'intermixed,' that you can set the -9 engines to -7 power settings because they are de-rated. When we expressed concern that we were unaware of such a procedure, he told the captain that if we did not take the trip, that the entire crew would have to call the chief pilot in the morning. Even though it was never directly said, it was understood that we would be fired. Supplemental information from acn 509293: by now we were delayed it's a _________ flight facing large fines. Dallas got me on the phone with the chief pilot. He told me I only needed -7 information. I feel this was to speed up the faxing of the manual to us. After a 1 hour delay, the mail office canceled the trip. The company wanted the aircraft to repos to mhr. En route to mhr with only fpp -7 information, we looked up in the aomi limitation section, it says you have to have -9 thrust settings. We could find no information about using only -7 information for thrust settings on a de-rated -9 engine. The chief pilot said since he told us it was ok to go, that we could not be held responsible if his information was incorrect. If this is true it should be in writing. Also, if you only need -7 information for thrust settings on a -9 engine, that also should be in a manual.

Title: B727 CREW OPERATES THEIR AFT WITH A PARTIAL FLT PLANNING AND PERFORMANCE MANUAL THAT FAILED TO STIPULATE THE TKOF PWR SETTINGS TO BE USED FOR THEIR ACFT CONFIGN WHICH HAD MIXED TYPE ENGS.
Narrative: THE EVENT IN QUESTION HAPPENED ON APR/XA/01, WHILE PREPARING FOR DEP FROM SEATAC TO MATHER FIELD IN SACRAMENTO. BECAUSE THE B727 HAD AN INTERMIX OF JT8D-7 AND JT8D-9 ENGS, WE NEEDED A SPECIFIC MANUAL CALLED AN FPP (FLT PLANNING AND PERFORMANCE) TO DETERMINE THE TKOF PWR SETTINGS FOR THE -9 ENGS. THIS MANUAL WAS MISSING FROM THE ACFT. THE CAPT CALLED THE COMPANY AND ASKED TO HAVE THE INFO FAXED. HE WAS TOLD BY THE CHIEF PLT THAT WHEN ENGS ARE 'INTERMIXED,' THAT YOU CAN SET THE -9 ENGS TO -7 PWR SETTINGS BECAUSE THEY ARE DE-RATED. WHEN WE EXPRESSED CONCERN THAT WE WERE UNAWARE OF SUCH A PROC, HE TOLD THE CAPT THAT IF WE DID NOT TAKE THE TRIP, THAT THE ENTIRE CREW WOULD HAVE TO CALL THE CHIEF PLT IN THE MORNING. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NEVER DIRECTLY SAID, IT WAS UNDERSTOOD THAT WE WOULD BE FIRED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 509293: BY NOW WE WERE DELAYED IT'S A _________ FLT FACING LARGE FINES. DALLAS GOT ME ON THE PHONE WITH THE CHIEF PLT. HE TOLD ME I ONLY NEEDED -7 INFO. I FEEL THIS WAS TO SPD UP THE FAXING OF THE MANUAL TO US. AFTER A 1 HR DELAY, THE MAIL OFFICE CANCELED THE TRIP. THE COMPANY WANTED THE ACFT TO REPOS TO MHR. ENRTE TO MHR WITH ONLY FPP -7 INFO, WE LOOKED UP IN THE AOMI LIMITATION SECTION, IT SAYS YOU HAVE TO HAVE -9 THRUST SETTINGS. WE COULD FIND NO INFO ABOUT USING ONLY -7 INFO FOR THRUST SETTINGS ON A DE-RATED -9 ENG. THE CHIEF PLT SAID SINCE HE TOLD US IT WAS OK TO GO, THAT WE COULD NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF HIS INFO WAS INCORRECT. IF THIS IS TRUE IT SHOULD BE IN WRITING. ALSO, IF YOU ONLY NEED -7 INFO FOR THRUST SETTINGS ON A -9 ENG, THAT ALSO SHOULD BE IN A MANUAL.
