Narrative:
We were flight planned from naples, fl, to st petersburg, fl, with the route of flight going to the pie VOR. Prior to reaching rsw VOR, we were reclred from rsw via bridge 5 arrival to st petersburg. I entered the STAR into the FMS, but did not remove pie from the route. The aircraft flew beyond rsw toward pie. I corrected by turning right to get back on the STAR. Before I could call approach, they called me to confirm the last assigned route. I explained what had happened and we were reclred direct to bridge intersection to rejoin the STAR. ATC did not indicate any problem or conflict.
