Narrative:
Any time we moved the thrust levers, we got a pop. We were on the descent when it was determined it was #1 engine. We declared the emergency, shut down the engine with our compressor stall checklist. No other incident occurred.

Title: A B727-200 AT TOP OF DSCNT AT FL330 DECLARED AN EMER AND SHUT DOWN #1 ENG DUE TO ENG COMPRESSOR STALLING. CAUSE UNKNOWN.
Narrative: ANY TIME WE MOVED THE THRUST LEVERS, WE GOT A POP. WE WERE ON THE DSCNT WHEN IT WAS DETERMINED IT WAS #1 ENG. WE DECLARED THE EMER, SHUT DOWN THE ENG WITH OUR COMPRESSOR STALL CHKLIST. NO OTHER INCIDENT OCCURRED.
